How to use the regions map
Use this map to compare destinations before choosing a route. Hover or tap any highlighted region to open photos, seasonal notes and practical travel tips in the detail card. From there you can jump to tour packages, day tours and activities for that area.
North Island vs South Island planning
The North Island tends to suit shorter drives between cities, cultural experiences and geothermal attractions. The South Island is better for alpine scenery, fiords and longer scenic road trips. Many international itineraries include both islands with a domestic flight between Auckland or Wellington and Christchurch or Queenstown.
When you are deciding how many regions to include, start with your arrival and departure airports, then work backwards from must-see experiences rather than trying to cover every highlight in one trip.
Next steps with ANZ
ANZ plans journeys across both islands — from single-region stays to connected North and South Island itineraries with tours, activities and transport coordinated around your dates. Browse the links below or enquire when you are ready to confirm timing and availability.
Choosing how many regions to include
Fifteen highlighted destinations cover the main areas ANZ plans regularly. A one-week trip might focus on Queenstown and one Fiordland experience; two weeks can connect Auckland, Rotorua and a South Island alpine route with a domestic flight between islands.
Use the island-specific explorers for deeper notes: the North Island page covers cultural and geothermal regions; the South Island page covers alpine lakes, passes and fiord access.
